The President of Guinea, Alpha Condé, appointed a woman to the post of Brigadier General for the first time in the country's history. The report said Mahawa Silla received a promotion to celebrate International Women's Day on March 8. According to reporters, General Silla studied at the Command and Staff College in China and received a diploma in 2014. She was appointed to the position of Deputy Secretary General of the National Defense Council in late 2017. She also served in the United Nations Operation in Côte d 'Ivoire (UNOCI).
