Since coronavirus infection is most dangerous for elderly citizens, the Government of Georgia will take measures to isolate them during the spread of the virus, said Prime Minister of Georgia Georgy Gakharia after the next meeting of the interdepartmental coordination council for the prevention of coronavirus on March 17. According to him, the decision was made at today's meeting, and all citizens of retirement age and socially vulnerable persons the government will provide the necessary services at home. You have to understand that government resources are limited. It is important that not only the Government respond to the challenges facing the country, but also that every citizen show self-awareness and responsibility. We have to take care of elderly citizens, especially those over 70, so we decided to provide them with conditions for self-isolation. The government has already instructed the Ministry of Economy and the Georgian Post Office to create a mechanism that will provide pensioners and socially vulnerable families with the services they need daily, the Prime Minister said. Recall that in Georgia 34 confirmed cases of coronavirus are recorded, 1,008 people are quarantined, and 64 in hospitals.
