Senate approves Trump's nomination of U.S. national intelligence chief

John Ratcliffe's candidacy for Director of American National Intelligence was approved by the United States Senate on May 21. Ratcliffe will take the oath in the coming days. As the news agency previously reported, Ratcliffe, who is a Republican member of Congress, proposed to appoint President Donald Trump as head of national intelligence.
