The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia reported details in the case of the death of a football player

The details of the case of the death of 19-year-old football player Georgy Shakarashvili were announced on June 25 by Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia Vladimir Bortsvadze at a briefing. This was reported by InterprossNews. The representative of the department noted that the forensic medical examination was not completed, so the cause of death of the athlete was not established. Investigative actions continue. The deputy minister did not rule out that the charges in the case of violence and illegal deprivation of liberty could be tightened. Bortsvadze said that, according to the investigation, the tragedy occurred after a conflict between two groups of teenagers on June 18 in the village of Narekvavi near the city of Mtskheta. One of the groups then decided to eat with the other. On the Tbilisi-Senaki-Leselidze road, near the village of Narekavi, members of an organized group attacked teenagers and inflicted physical insults on them, at which time Georgy Shakarashvili and the persons accompanying him fled in the direction of the Aragvi River to avoid violence, Bortsvadze said. The attackers, as investigators established, caught up with Shakarashvili and his friend after which they illegally deprived of their liberty. The causes of death of a football player are established. Recall that the body of Shakarashvili was discovered on June 22 in the Aragvi River. During the case, 17 people were detained. Also in the media reported that among the detainees there is a minor teenager.
