On July 10, the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Russia, First Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, Army General Valery Gerasimov, held telephone conversations with the head of the main headquarters of the French Armed Forces, Army General Francois Lecoantre. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation. During the talks, the chiefs of staff discussed the most pressing issues of international security and the situation in various crisis regions of the world. Issues of bilateral cooperation were also discussed. According to the news agency, on July 8, the chiefs of the general staff of the Armed Forces of Russia and Turkey Valery Gerasimov and Yashar Guler discussed by telephone the situation in Syria and Libya.
