The heads of defense of India and China held talks on the situation in Ladakh
Indian Defense Minister Rajnath Singh held frank and deep talks with his Chinese counterpart, General Wei Fenghe, over the border confrontation between the two countries along the line of actual control in East Ladakh, as well as on Indian-Chinese relations. This was reported on September 5 by the Hindustan Times. It is clarified that Singh conveyed India's categorical position regarding events along the line of actual control in the region. At the same time, he emphasized that the actions of the Chinese troops, including the accumulation of a large number of forces, their aggressive behavior and attempts to unilaterally change the status quo in the region are a violation of bilateral agreements and do not correspond to the agreements reached between the special representatives of the two parties. In turn, General Wei said that both sides should accurately implement the agreements reached between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping, and continue to resolve issues through dialogue and consultations. Also, in his opinion, the parties should strictly follow various bilateral agreements, strengthen the regulation of front-line troops and not take any provocative actions that could aggravate the situation. In addition, the Chinese Minister of Defense invited both parties to maintain communication at all levels, including between the two ministers. According to the news agency, on September 1, the Chinese newspaper The Global Times announced that Indian troops would suffer more serious losses in the event of an armed conflict on the border of China and India than was the case during the 1962 border war.
